Carolyn is a Managing Director in FGMK’s State and Local Tax Practice. She has over 10 years of experience serving clients in the financial services and services industry generally, and over 18 years of experience in the tax industry more broadly. Carolyn currently assists clients with all aspects of multistate income tax as well as with the application of state sales and use tax to specific transactions and with sales and use tax planning, all within a variety of industries. She has extensive experience in state partnership tax compliance and planning and leading both domestic and international teams in that regard.
Carolyn also has extensive experience assisting multistate and multinational clients, including mutual fund service providers and other investment managers, with a wide array of state tax matters, such as nexus concerns, apportionment methodologies, sourcing nuances, audit defense, refund claims, and letter ruling requests, as well as with the tax impact of state legislative proposals.
Prior to joining FGMK in 2018, Carolyn was a senior manager in EY’s financial services office national state and local tax practice, where she specialized in asset management with a focus toward partnerships and other flow-through entities. Carolyn’s broad and deep multistate income tax and sales and use tax experience was also gained from her time as a director in the indirect tax practice at PwC, and as a tax attorney in the tax research department at Sovos Compliance (formerly known as Taxware).
